Pages from and Album: Despo Magoni and Sarah Stengle

Despo Magoni and I worked on a drawing collaboration in 2017. Forty drawings were mailed back and forth between Saint Paul, Minnesota and Brooklyn, New York over the course of three months. We did not discuss our project at length. We simply dove in without input or editing each other. We agreed to be surprised by each other's interventions. The exchange was reflective and experimental. It was a creative joy to collaborate with Despo. At the end of the collaboration we met and divided the resulting works on paper between us. Sixteen of the forty drawings are featured in the video. The accompanying music, "Jamestown" is composed and performed by Eldon Rodell.
